The Actor’s Village Receives Ohio Arts Council Capacity Building Grant to Support Leadership Development at National Theatre Conference

Cleveland, Ohio – July 28th, 2026 – The Actor’s Village is proud to announce that it has received a $5,000 Capacity Building Grant from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) to support organizational growth and professional development. The grant provided funding for The Actor’s Village leadership team to attend the American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE) National Conference held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville, South Carolina.

The conference brought together theatre educators, artists, administrators, and arts leaders from across the country for six days of workshops, professional development sessions, networking opportunities, and discussions focused on advancing theatre education and strengthening arts organizations.

Representing The Actor’s Village at the conference were President Zondra Wilson, Vice President Andrea Anderson-Burgess, and Treasurer Diane Fuller. Their participation was made possible through the generous support of the Ohio Arts Council’s Capacity Building Grant, which funded conference registration, travel, lodging, and related expenses.

“The opportunity to attend the AATE National Conference was a tremendous investment in the future of The Actor’s Village,” said President Zondra Wilson. “This experience allowed our leadership team to gain valuable knowledge, connect with national theatre professionals, and bring back resources that will strengthen our organization, improve our planning, and enhance the programs we provide to our community.”

During the conference, The Actor’s Village leadership participated in sessions focused on nonprofit leadership, board development, theatre education, strategic planning, community engagement, accessibility, fundraising, and organizational sustainability. The knowledge gained will support the organization’s continued growth and help expand its ability to use theatre as a tool for education, creativity, and community connection.

The conference provided specialized learning opportunities directly connected to the organization’s work in theatre and arts education. “Capacity building is essential for nonprofit arts organizations,” Wilson added. “The Ohio Arts Council’s support allowed us to invest in our leadership and strengthen the foundation of our organization. The benefits of this experience will continue to impact our board, artists, students, families, and community partners for years to come.”

The Actor’s Village is committed to creating meaningful theatre experiences that inspire creativity, encourage artistic expression, and build community. Through support from partners such as the Ohio Arts Council, the organization continues to grow its capacity to provide impactful arts programming throughout Northeast Ohio.
